This assignment is a building block for your final Synthesis of Literature assignment. Your synthesis paper will not simply be a summary of articles you have found based on your literature search. Rather, you will identify relationships of the articles you found and group them to understand what is known about your topic of interest. Altogether, what does the evidence mean? How does it relate to your problem and population of interest. How will the evidence guide your DNP project idea?

For this assignment

1. Write a short (1 page limit) paragraph describing your search strategy. Include clinical question, keywords, databases, limits, inclusion/exclusion criteria and number of results. Review the Kable, Pich & Maslin-Prothero (2012) article linked in Module readings for guidelines to document your search strategy.

2. Refine PRISMA diagram submitted in Module 4 Discussion Board.

3. Organize your literature search by developing an evidence table (a minimum of 4-5 articles required for this assignment, however, a total of 7-10 articles will be expected to be in your evidence table in your final synthesis of literature assignment). Use the Evidence Table Template  downloadprovided to organize the articles you found during your literature search. Remember to be concise in your Evidence Table, as you continue adding evidence you want to easily be able to find the important information from each article that will inform your DNP project idea. Avoid unnecessary words and directly quoting from articles. **No systematic reviews or meta-analysis of any kind are permitted for this assignment.

For submission of this assignment, combine Search Strategy paragraph, PRISMA diagram, Evidence Table and Reference page using APA format into one document. Include a title page. Review rubric before submission.

**Highly recommend using a reference manager (i.e. EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero) to keep track of articles related to your topic of interest throughout your DNP Project courses. Consult Mr. Andy Todd or the UCF Library tools if needed.

Introduction:
This assignment is a prelude to the final Synthesis of Literature assignment for medical college students. The purpose of the assignment is to help students identify the relationships between the articles they have found and group them to comprehend what is known about their topic of interest. In this assignment, students are required to complete three tasks, namely, write a paragraph about the search strategy, refine the PRISMA diagram, and develop an evidence table. The assignment requires a scholarly tone, clarity of writing, and adherence to APA format.

Question 1: What is the purpose of the Search Strategy paragraph in the Literature Search & Evidence Table assignment?

Answer: The purpose of the Search Strategy paragraph in the Literature Search & Evidence Table assignment is to document the clinical question in PICOT format, keywords, databases, exclusion/inclusion criteria, and results that were found during the literature search. This paragraph should adhere to Kable, Pich & Maslin-Prothero (2012) guidelines and be concise, clear and accurate. The search strategy paragraph should provide a framework for the subsequent tasks in the assignment, namely refining the PRISMA diagram and developing an evidence table.

Question 2: What is the importance of developing an evidence table in the Literature Search & Evidence Table assignment?

Answer: The importance of developing an evidence table in the Literature Search & Evidence Table assignment is to provide a summary of the articles found during the literature search. The table should include information such as the purpose of the study, sample/setting, interventions, outcome measures, strengths/limitations, findings, and level of evidence. The evidence table will enable students to quickly reference and retrieve information when developing their final synthesis of literature assignment. Additionally, it allows students to identify gaps in the literature related to their topic of interest, which can inform their DNP project idea.

Question 3: What is the role of the PRISMA diagram in the Literature Search & Evidence Table assignment?

Answer: The PRISMA diagram in the Literature Search & Evidence Table assignment is an essential tool for identifying and tracking the articles that are included and excluded during the literature search. The diagram enables students to provide a visual representation of their systematic review process to the reader. The PRISMA diagram is an essential element of the final synthesis of literature assignment, where it demonstrates the rigor and thoroughness of the literature search process. By refining the PRISMA diagram, students can ensure that accurate documentation is provided, and any discrepancies or ambiguities are resolved in the systematic review process. Therefore, the PRISMA diagram plays a crucial role in ensuring the validity and reliability of the final synthesis of literature assignment.
