3. Analyze each vector diagram and fill in the table below.

Vector Diagram

Resultant Force

(Magnitude and Direction)

4. What is the force on a 1000 kg elevator that is falling freely at 9.8 m/sec2?

5. What is the acceleration of a 50 kg object pushed with a force of 500 newtons?

6. Draw an arrow showing which direction will each box move? Analyze first the forces that are on the same direction. If they point in the same direction: add them, if they point in opposite direction subtract them. Then apply the “parallelogram” rule. (Chapter 2). All the examples will have rectangles because the horizontal and vertical net forces are perpendicular to each other.
